      ORIGIN

Made in Mexico by El Yucateco, a company founded in 1968 in Yucatan, one of the first companies in the production and export of habanero chili pepper hot sauce, and also in the production and export of a variety of traditional Mexican condiments and syrups.

      PREPARATION

El Yucateco Achiote is a traditional paste seasoning, perfect for preparing typical dishes of Yucatecan cuisine such as Cochinita Pibil. For a flavorful main course, dissolve the achiote paste in bitter orange juice (or apple cider vinegar) and add minced garlic and a pinch of salt. Use this marinade to season pork, letting it rest for at least 4 hours or overnight, then cook it slowly in the oven or in a pan until tender and flavorful. Serve the shredded meat with pickled red onion and corn tortillas for a complete Mexican experience.

For an original and tasty idea, you can use achiote to make vegetarian fajitas. Cut bell peppers and onion into strips, mix them with a small amount of achiote paste dissolved in oil and lime juice, then sauté them in a pan until tender. Serve everything on warm tortillas with guacamole, fresh cilantro and lime. A simple recipe full of character, ideal for a light lunch with an authentic flavor.
