      Made in Mexico by Papagayo, a 100% Mexican company dedicated to growing and harvesting corn husks to make tamales.

      PREPARATION

      Maize Leaves for Tamales are essential to the preparation of traditional Mexican tamales, giving them a natural flavor and an authentic presentation. For a traditional lunch or dinner, soak the leaves in hot water for about 30 minutes until they are soft and pliable. Once softened, roll them out, add a layer of masa (corn dough) and stuff with meat in red or green sauce, cheese with rajas or sweets like raisins and cinnamon. Wrap the leaf and close it like a packet, then steam the tamales for about an hour until the masa is well cooked.


      For an original appetizer or to serve at a buffet, you can use corn leaves to make mini vegetarian tamales. Fill them with a filling of sautéed mushrooms with onion and chipotle sauce, or with black beans and fresh cheese. Serve them hot with a selection of Mexican sauces such as guacamole, salsa verde or crema. The leaves are not edible, but they keep the tamales warm and enhance their flavors, offering an authentic and convivial experience perfect for any special occasion.
