Harina de Maíz Blanca Maza Real is the perfect base for making tortillas, tamales, sopes and other traditional Mexican dishes. To make authentic homemade tortillas, mix 2 cups of flour with 1½ cups of warm water and a pinch of salt until you get a soft, smooth dough. Form into balls, flatten them with a tortilla press and cook on a hot griddle for about 1 minute per side. Serve hot with meat, beans, cheese or vegetables for a simple meal full of Mexican flavor.
For a tasty appetizer, you can use Maza Real flour to make crispy sopes. Prepare the dough as for tortillas, but form thicker discs. Cook the sopes on a griddle, then pinch the edges to form a small border. Fry them lightly until golden brown, then fill them with refritos beans, lettuce, sour cream, fresh cheese and a spicy sauce of your choice.
